Cleantech

Ahlström Capital’s cleantech fund was launched in 2010. In addition to Ahlström Capital, investments in the fund were made by Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, and Stiftelsen för Åbo Akademi.
EUR 50 million was quickly collected in the fund, which then made investments in seven companies: Frangible Safety Posts Ltd, Mervento Ltd, Neapo Oy, Ripasso Energy AB (later: Swedish Stirling), Scandinavian Biogas Fuels International AB, TD Light Sweden AB and United Waters International AG.

In 2018 AC Cleantech Growth Fund held a 16,9% share in Ripasso Energy, a 27,6% share in Scandinavian Biogas and a 40% share in Frangible Safety Posts. Scandinavian Biogas is one of Sweden’s largest private producers of biogas. Ripasso Energy is a Swedish clean-tech company specialised in developing the technology of the Stirling engine. Ahlström Capital Group’s ownership in the fund is 30%. Varma, Sitra and Stiftelsen för Åbo Akademi have also invested in the fund.
